The Giving of Friendship Rings
There are many things that girls give each other to show how much they like each other, and these things are often like friendship rings. When I was a little girl, we gave our friends safety pins with beads on them that we then clipped on our sneakers. These were like a badge of honor, and though those pins are long gone, there is always something with the same sentiment behind it that friends like to give each other.
There have been many trends in this area, but the friendship rings seem to be something that are always in fashion for girls. Though they don’t have to cost very much, some of them do. Young girls may not buy expensive ones, but older girls will when they have been friends with someone for a very long time. There are different types of friendship rings, but they all mean the same thing. They say thank you for being my friend, and I hope we will be friends long into the future.
Besides the friendship rings, there are also friendship bracelets that are pretty popular among young girls. This might be because they are cheaper than the friendship rings, and they are also something that do not have to be the right size. These can come in colors and they can come in different types of metal. Some of them are very inexpensive, and that makes it easy for girls to have enough to give all of their friends without leaving someone out.
If your daughter requests friendship rings for her friends, remind her that they may be expensive and that you may not be able to get many of them. If that does not work for her, ask her to think of a less expensive alternative. If a girl has just one or two very special friends, the rings might not be too bad, but if she wants to give one to everyone she knows, that could add up quickly. Friendships are important, and it is nice to tell your friends that you care, but no one should go broke doing so. Though some trends tend to stick for a while, and the token given must be the same as the trend, there are other times when children start new trends. Hopefully, they are less expensive than the last.
